Years 4, 5 and 6 travelled to Norbury Park for their second Foresters trip of the Spring Term. Now that the girls have been using Norbury for over a year, they feel a real connection to the site and most importantly the nature around them. The morning consisted of some rather tricky bushcraft challenges. These involved the girls creating ‘raised roof teepees’. They were given resources to build their teepees but were only permitted a resource when they were able to locate one of the coloured plastic coins which were hidden around the forest.
The girls had to show collaboration, team bonding, problem solving skills and lots of resilience to create their shelters. The innovative nature of the girls was exceptional with different groups managing to enlarge their shelters making them more complex as the morning progressed.
A fantastic day out! The only complaint from all year groups was, “We didn’t have enough time!”
