Year 6 were treated to a virtual reality workshop on Thursday afternoon. The workshop was led by Piers Baillie, the founder of Global Reef. Piers specialises in connecting scientists, researchers and students with marine conservation.

The immersive presentation provided the girls with a knowledge and understanding of coral reefs, the biology and ecology of key marine organisms, and the role these animals play in maintaining a healthy and balanced ecosystem.

The girls examined the specific threats faced by marine organisms, as well as ways in which they could support the protection and conservation of important species.

The girls were handed a virtual reality headset and were able to explore reefs in South East Asia. This gave them a true sense of what it is like to be part of the underwater world. A fantastic addition to the Year 6 enrichment curriculum.
