Dressed to the nines in exceptional 1920’s attire which would have inspired Coco Chanel herself, Year 6 hopped on the 452 bus determined not to be late for the ball.  We arrived in style and elegance ready to imagine what it would have been like for Lady Sylvia and Myrtle Mathers in the dramatic final scenes of the book.  Equipped with a historical activity booklet on Apsley House, the girls wandered the corridors of the Dukes of Wellingtons’ ‘humble abode’ and learned about the fascinating story of the ancestral home which was a key location in Miss Ivison’s novel.  Mrs Dixon thoroughly enjoyed being with the girls on this trip.

Upon departing ‘the ball’, we made our way back to school for the next part of the party. Mrs Bianchi and Mrs Champalimaud had worked their magic to transform a senior school lecture room into a 1920’s themed banquet room. The girls were treated to delicious ‘mocktails’ and decadent debutante high tea. After finishing the feast, it was time to dance. 1920’s jazz and swing eventually turned into a mock Taylor Swift concert.

An outstanding trip and very special day before the half term break commenced.
