On Monday morning, fresh from the half term break, Year 3 headed to the Natural History Museum. The girls had a fantastic time exploring rocks, crystals and a variety of fossils, from tiny ammonites to massive dinosaur bones.

It was wonderful to see the excitement from the girls when they discovered the inspiring work of Mary Anning. Having studied her incredible discoveries over the last term, seeing Mary Anning’s work up close was very special. The girls learnt how Mary Anning found the first complete Ichthyosaurus skeleton when she was just twelve years old and how her discoveries helped shape our understanding of prehistoric life.

After spending time observing and sketching the exhibits, the girls enjoyed some sunshine in the museum gardens. It was a perfect way to relax and reflect on all they had learned.
