On Thursday, Year 3 travelled to Greenwich to visit the Royal Observatory. A particular highlight of the day was the Planetarium show – we sat back and relaxed in reclining chairs as the room darkened and the night sky appeared above us. Jess, an extremely knowledgeable astronomer, taught us all about planets, constellations and many more elements of space. Did you know that Saturn’s rings are made from pieces of a destroyed moon?!
The girls also took part in a Shadows and Sundials workshop where they learned all about the movement of the Earth and the Sun, and how shadows enabled people to tell the time before clocks were invented. It was a wonderful experience and the girls had a fantastic time!
