Years 3 and 4 were blessed with warm sunshine for their Forest School trip on Thursday. Reacquainting ourselves with Norbury Park has been similar to catching up with an old friend. The girls adore the space which they have forged close bonds with. The morning activities saw a mix of fire making and shelter building. Girls produced an array of shelters using minimal resources. Year 3 and 4 are now proficient shelter builders confidently assembling ridge line as well as ridge pole shelters.

The previous week of rain did not hinder our fire making skills, with the girls successfully sourcing enough dry wood in a very damp forest. They used a combination of ‘ferro rods’ and cotton wool to ignite their own fires. One of the highlights was learning how to cook on the fire with marshmallows on skewers. Obviously, it wouldn’t have been a true FHF trip without our customary hot chocolates to end the day.
