The Year 1 girls were so lucky on Thursday morning to have one of our parents, Mrs Katia Hammerson, come in to share the special story of Hanukkah. Mrs Hammerson brought in a menorah and told us all about the miracle of the oil burning for eight days, instead of only one. Given that Thursday was the first day of Hanukkah, we were able to shammash (the helper candle), to light the first candle on the menorah. The girls were each gifted with a candle to take home and some chocolate coins to play the festive game of dreidel. Thank you, Mrs Hammerson!
