The Year 5 Coffee Concert on Thursday morning was an absolute triumph! I was overwhelmed with the sheer level of talent, courage, and hard work that was displayed in each pupils’ performance. It was wonderful to see so many of the girls performing and on such a wide variety of instruments. The 21-item programme included performances on piano, guitar, violin, ’cello, recorder, trumpet and singing.

As I watched the girls perform, I started to think about ‘The Fearless Girl’. All of the girls appeared completely fearless, yet I know inside some of them may have be feeling nervous, overwhelmed, or afraid of standing in front of an audience. After all, performing music can be one of the most vulnerable things a person can do. Yet, all of them turned this feeling into excitement and drive to face this task head on with courage, competence, and flair. They are truly fearless and enormously inspiring to all who witnessed their performances.

Following the concert, I am filled with utter excitement as the Fanny Davies Music Competition approaches on 10th March. I hope that all of our pupils are feeling inspired to get practicing for this momentous event in the musical calendar at FHP.
