The Year 5 and 6 Francis Holland Foresters braved the torrential rainfall for an unforgettable trip
last Friday. Despite the unpredictable British weather, the girls’ spirits remained high as they arrived at the forest, ready for a day of adventure. The morning started with an unforeseen downpour that turned the forest into a scene from a dramatic film. Torrential rain soaked the girls, but their enthusiasm and resilience shone through as they embraced the experience with a mix of laughter and excitement. Rain jackets on and boots squelching in the mud, they pressed on, determined to make the most of their day.

One of the highlights of the trip was the bushcraft activity, where the girls learned essential survival skills. Under the guidance of Mr Russell and Miss Johnson the girls were introduced to the wonders of nature identification. They roamed the forest, discovering different types of trees, plants, and wildlife.

The excitement continued with rope work activities, where teamwork and perseverance were put to the test. The girls were tasked with creating and completing assault courses using ropes and natural materials found in the forest. Working in small groups, they faced various challenges that required problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration. Despite the mud and the rain, their determination was unyielding. By the end of the day, the forest was filled with the sounds of laughter, encouragement, and the triumphant cheers of girls as they completed their courses. This trip not only provided a memorable outdoor learning experience but also taught valuable lessons in resilience, teamwork, and the joy of exploring the great outdoors.
