This week I had the pleasure of speaking to the Key Stage 2 girls about British Values. With no surprises, I was met with eager hands up from well educated, empathetic, world-minded girls who were ready to share their existing knowledge of Fundamental British Values.

Fundamental British Values are:

  • Democracy
  • The Rule of Law
  • Individual Liberty
  • Mutual Respect and Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs

We spoke about what it means to follow these values and how important it is that these are shared by all. The girls were able to quickly make links between British Values and the values that we hold at Francis Holland School; Love, Humility, Compassion, Courage, Hope and Thankfulness.

We explored the idea of how these values intertwine and the impact we can have within our classrooms, our school and the wider community by modelling these on a daily basis.

We finished the assembly with a catchy song to help us remember these values and you can find that song here, should you wish to practise it at home – British Values Rap
